Nestled in a rural Hawke’s Bay setting, this dated two-storey home was in need of a complete transformation. Drinkrow Homes reimagined the property with a small living extension, an open-plan kitchen, dining and living space, a full reclad, new aluminium joinery, roof, bathrooms, kitchen, and expansive decking. The original home presented several architectural challenges, including awkward dormer windows, closed-off spaces, and unusual design features that limited functionality. Once construction began, we also uncovered walls and floors that were in poorer condition than expected, requiring careful management to bring them up to standard without disrupting the build schedule.
Midway through construction, our clients decided to expand the scope of work, adding additional upgrades and improvements. While these changes elevated the final result, they also introduced complexity in planning and delivery. With the owners living offsite during the project, efficiency and clear communication were critical to getting them back into their home on time.
Our team approached the renovation with a balance of vision and practicality. By removing internal barriers and extending the living area, we created a spacious, open-plan heart of the home. The finished renovation is unrecognisable from the original dated home.
